Offcampuz Law Enforcement Request Policy (India)

Effective date: 14 July 2026 · Last updated: 14 July 2026

This Policy explains how Offcampuz responds to requests from law enforcement and other government authorities in India for user information, and how we handle preservation and emergency requests. It is intended primarily for law-enforcement and government personnel, but it is public so users understand our approach.

This Policy is informational and does not create any rights for any person, waive any objection, or limit our ability to respond to or object to any request.

1. Our commitments

2. "Anonymous to other users" — what we can have

Offcampuz lets users post anonymously to other users. Anonymous does not mean untraceable. Offcampuz may retain account, device, network, and activity information for safety, security, fraud prevention, moderation, legal compliance, and law enforcement requests. Depending on the account and time period, the information we may hold can include: account/registration records and verification signals; device and app identifiers; IP and network/log data; and records of activity associated with content (including anonymous content). We provide such information only in response to valid legal process or a qualifying emergency, as described below, and only to the extent it exists and is reasonably accessible.

3. Valid legal process

We require requests to be made under lawful authority and accompanied by valid legal process — for example, a written request or order from an authorized officer or agency under the IT Act, the BNSS/CrPC, or other applicable law, or an order of a competent court. We may require requests to specify the legal provision relied upon and to be issued by an authority with proper jurisdiction. The nature of the process required may depend on the sensitivity of the information sought; requests for stored content (to the extent any exists) generally require a higher level of authorization than basic subscriber or log information.

4. Preservation requests

We will honor valid preservation requests and preserve a snapshot of available account records for 90 days, extendable upon a renewed request, pending service of formal legal process. A preservation request does not require us to disclose anything; disclosure requires appropriate legal process.

5. User notice

Our policy is to notify users of requests for their information before disclosure, so they may seek to challenge it, except where: we are legally prohibited from giving notice; the request relates to an emergency involving a risk of death or serious physical injury; notice would be counterproductive (for example, where there is a risk to a child, or a clear indication of evidence destruction or witness intimidation); or notice is otherwise not legally required and we determine it inappropriate. Where we are temporarily barred from giving notice, we may notify the user after the prohibition lapses.

6. Emergency requests

In emergencies involving an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm to any person, we may voluntarily disclose information to law enforcement to the extent permitted by law. Submit emergency requests using the emergency process at legal@offcampuz.com, clearly marked "EMERGENCY," describing the nature of the emergency, the specific person at risk, and the information needed and why. We may require a signed request on official letterhead and will evaluate each request in good faith. Self-harm and suicide-risk situations are handled by our safety team in line with our Safety Center.

7. How to submit a request

We may reject requests that are incomplete, fraudulent, overbroad, or that do not properly identify the target account. We do not respond to requests sent through informal channels except for qualifying emergencies.

8. Authentication and cost

We may take steps to authenticate requests and requesters before responding, and may seek reimbursement for costs of responding where permitted by law.

9. Foreign requests

Requests from authorities outside India should generally be routed through applicable mutual legal assistance channels or letters rogatory, unless an emergency exception applies. We may, where lawful and appropriate, respond to properly authorized requests after legal review.

10. Transparency and no waiver

We may report aggregate statistics about government and law-enforcement requests in transparency reporting, to the extent we choose or are required to. Nothing in this Policy waives any legal objection we may raise, and we reserve all rights.
